The charity gig was a night of firsts but was of course primarily organised to raise money for the victims of the Asian Tsunami.

First up and making their live debut, were 3 brothers who played an acoustic set. Going by the name of “Lager Top”, the boys knocked out a good set including some Beatles classics. Special thanks go to “Lager Top” for stepping in at short notice.

Next up and also playing their first live gig were "Cortina". James, Nick, Lewis, Ben and John played original material with a “Weller” like influence. Despite some “technical difficulties” the lads played well and were appreciated by the growing audience.

Third up were “Psyattica”. 4 teenagers who were not virgins to the gigging scene. This showed as they rocked their way through a set of covers and originals and really got the large crowd (200+) buzzing.

To give the crowds ears a chance to recover, Craig Lace stepped up next to play a few acoustic numbers. Craig and his guitar soon had the audience singing along with him, although whether they were a help or a hindrance remains in doubt!

The night finished with another first. “Shotgun Smile” played their first gig under a new name (previously “The Numbers”) and with a new lead guitarist making his “professional” debut. Dale Koerner bought some much needed youth to the band and “Shotgun Smile” played a kicking set to an appreciative audience.

Despite some sound problems throughout the evening, everyone played well and the audience certainly got their money’s worth, and most importantly, about £1,000 was raised for the Tsunami Relief charity.
