| Musical background: | After briefly flirting with punk at a tender age my first main musical influence was 2 Tone with the Specials & Madness being my favourite bands. My first musical hero was Lee ‘Kix’ Thompson Madness’ sax player. I bought a tenor sax on HP & paid for it with a paper-round that I took over from Moggs. This is how I met Moggs and joined the band. I was saxophonist and singer up to the time when I left to work in Swansea. When we reformed, the band needed a drummer and not a saxophonist (a combination of descending testicles and 20 fags a day had put paid to my singing career). As I had messed around on drums a bit at school I was volunteered. Jon had an old kit and I learned as we went along and found a new love. I’m not a technical drummer and my sylph like gymnastic figure means I’m the only drummer on the South Coast with projectile sweat and a cardiac shocker on standby. Eventually we replaced the biscuit tins with the Pearl Export Kit. |
